TECHNOpor glass foam granulate Perimeter 50
Description
In the airy height of 7 m and on the roof of a car park with 450 parking spaces,
the construction was a tricky challenge. In order not to exceed the designated maximum
load of 350 kg/m², a lightweight material had to come into play, which was lightweight and
at the same time provided a high load-bearing capacity.
Execution: 2006
The roof of the car park consisted of concrete pavement with bituminous sealing.
The architects decided to put down an additional layer of asphalt sheeting to protect
the roof from mechanical stress. This layer received an additional root protection to avoid damages
to the roof sealing. A 12 cm glass foam granulate (GFG) layer was put down in this area
as a flat drainage system. All service pipes were installed in this drainage layer.
The basic drainage was covered with a filter fleece barrier. Footways were constructed on top
of this layer. All footways and golf courses are edged with porphyry. GFG was loosely filled into
the predefined areas to shape the golf courses, it was compacted first manually and then
mechanically using a plate vibrator with a weight of about 70 to 120 kg. A base layer of
single grain concrete was applied directly on top of the granulate layer.
The final layer was artificial turf, which covers the entire course like a walkable and playable carpet.
Conclusion
The strict demands on the structural strength could only be facilitated by using
TECHNOpor glass foam granulate. With its structurally sound build-up, the Adventure Golf Course
is exemplary for optimal utilization of space and an environmentally sound construction.
